지난 21일 샤키예프 누를란베크 키르기스스탄 국회의장과 국회의원 9명, 주한키르기스스탄 대사 등 33명이 대구 계명대를 찾아 감사인사를 전했가고 22일 밝혔다.

 

계명대와 계명대학교동산의료원(의료원장 이세엽)이 지난 2022년 창립 125주년을 기념하기 위해 기획한 ‘2022 KMU DSMC - HE K. Sadykov 프로젝트’를 통해 키르기스스탄 환자와 보호자, 의사 19명을 초청해 2차례에 걸쳐 나눔의료 봉사를 실천했다.

 

이를 통해 9명의 환자가 심장병, 산부인과, 성형외과 등의 수술을 받았는데 이와 관련된 수술비와 입원비를 비롯한 왕복 항공료, 체류비 등 각종 제반비용은 계명대학교 교직원들의 기부금으로 조성된 ‘(사)계명 1% 사랑나누기’와 ‘동산의료선교복지회’의 기금으로 마련되었다.

 

키르기스스탄 국회의장과 국회의원들의 방문은 자국민들을 대표해 직접 감사인사를 전하기 위한 것으로 이날 학교를 찾은 키르기스스탄 국회 방문단은 계명대에서 간담회를 가진 데 이어 계명대 동산병원을 찾아 시설을 둘러보는 시간을 가지기도 했다.

 

신일희 계명대 총장은 “우리나라와 키르기스스탄은 외교 수립은 31년이 됐지만, 훨씬 이전부터 실크로드를 통해 문화를 교류해 왔기 때문에 친숙한 국가”라면서 “계명대는 2013년 키르기스스탄 국립대학교와 학술교류를 시작으로 총 5번의 국외봉사단을 파견해 교육시설 개선과 교육봉사를 해오고 있으며 이번 나눔의료봉사도 일회성이 아니라 지속적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
